What to Bring to Your Consultation
You do not need to have every record before contacting an attorney. Bringing the most important documents and a short timeline, however, can make the first meeting more useful. Remove or cover unrelated account numbers and keep original documents unless the legal team asks for them.
Family Law and Divorce
Bring any petition, citation, prior order, parenting plan, protective order, or hearing notice. Helpful supporting materials may include a calendar of parenting time, recent pay information, a basic list of assets and debts, and important communications. If there is an urgent safety concern or a deadline printed on court papers, mention it when you call.
Personal Injury and Car Accidents
Bring the crash or incident report if available, photographs or video, witness information, insurance correspondence, medical-provider information, bills, and a list of work missed because of the injury. Do not delay a consultation simply because treatment is continuing or a report has not arrived.
Estate Planning and Probate
For estate planning, bring existing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, beneficiary information, and a general list of assets and family goals. For probate, bring the original will if available, the death certificate, known asset and debt information, and any letters or notices already received. An attorney can explain which additional records may be needed.
Civil Litigation
Bring contracts, amendments, invoices, payment records, relevant emails or messages, photographs, notices, and a chronological summary of the dispute. Court papers often contain short response deadlines, so provide them to the firm as early as possible.
Courthouses We Serve From This Office
The Houston office provides a convenient base for matters connected to Harris County and surrounding counties. Depending on the type of case and proper venue, a matter may proceed through the Harris County family district courts, the Harris County Civil Courthouse, or Harris County probate courts in downtown Houston. The firm also serves clients whose cases are connected to the Fort Bend County Justice Center in Richmond, Montgomery County courts in Conroe, and Waller County courts in Hempstead.
A person’s mailing address does not always identify the correct court. Existing family orders, the location of an event or property, the residence of the parties, and other facts can affect where a case belongs. Always follow the courthouse and hearing information on an official notice. Visit our areas served page for county-specific practice links.
Legal Services Available Through the Houston Office
Clients can meet with the firm about family law, divorce, personal injury, estate planning, probate, and civil litigation. During the initial conversation, the team can identify the relevant practice area, discuss immediate concerns, and explain what information will help with the next stage.
Contacting the firm does not obligate you to pursue a particular course. It is an opportunity to describe the situation, learn which issues may need attention, and determine whether the firm can assist. Because deadlines can apply in every practice area, it is usually better to ask early than to wait until a hearing, limitations date, or filing deadline is close.
Schedule a Consultation
Call 713-255-7321 or send Bowen Law Firm a message to schedule a consultation at the Houston office. When you contact the firm, include the best way to reach you and briefly identify the type of matter, county, and any known deadline. Please do not send confidential details until the firm confirms how to provide documents securely.
